Supportive Services

supportive services

Sometimes what we need is a support system to catch us when we’re falling. Our trauma-informed program, Real Talk provides an outlet for at-risk individuals and survivors to process their exploitation. Conducted in county jails, schools, juvenile detention centers and human trafficking safe homes, our supportive services build an individual’s strengths to promote emotional resiliency.

Why?

Those with a history of past trauma, abuse and trafficking are at a high risk for human trafficking (re)victimization.

Support Services

Real Talk, a trauma informed program enhances an at-risk individual and survivor’s life skills, strengthens coping strategies, and prevents a chance of (re) victimization. Conducted in county jails, schools, juvenile detention centers and human trafficking safe homes, our supportive services build individual strengths to promote emotional resiliency.

Why?

Individuals caught in the criminal justice and child welfare systems are among the most vulnerable to trafficking, and their abuse is often unreported. Those with a history of past trauma and abuse are also at higher risk for human trafficking victimization.

REAl talk program

Real Talk is a trauma-informed support group, which engages teens and adults who have already experienced trauma or trafficking and are vulnerable to recruitment and (re)victimization. Our supportive services consist of 10 on-site visits, this program provides participants a chance to process through open conversations and enrichment activities.

Program topics include:

  • The signs and signals of human trafficking and exploitation;
  • Relationship topics: stereotypes and labeling; processing self-esteem issues, feelings of shame and guilt; healthy versus unhealthy relationships;
  • Trauma and the body’s response;
  • A mentality of empowerment.

UAHT uses a holistic approach focusing on respect, empathy and individual strengths. A brain-based approach, this model works with traumatized individuals through socialization and healthy self-care habits. These activities include emotional management, cardio-centered aerobic exercises, yoga, expressive art, wellness focused workshops, meditation, and other group empowerment activities.
