DESCRIPTION:As the effects of the pandemic have rippled through our economy and our society\, vast numbers of children and adults are becoming increasingly vulnerable to exploitation. Human trafficking occurs in every region of Texas and impacts all of us. Our state faces many challenges going into the 88th Legislative Session\, but we cannot\, at this crucial time\, ignore this issue. CHILDREN AT RISK (C@R) and our allies will be presenting new data on human trafficking as well as providing new insights on the needs and issues facing our areas of the state and encourage the Legislature to prioritize the issue of human trafficking in the 88th Legislative Session. \nMeet on the Texas Capitol South Steps!

She has been a full-time writer and filmmaker since 2010. Knight is a survivor of various forms of familial human trafficking\, including child pornography produced by her parents. Through creative avenues like traditional storytelling\, poetry\, spoken word\, or song\, you’ll learn about healing\, humanity\, and what unites us. \nRSVP below! \nPerform:\nAre you part of the world of human trafficking as someone who has lived it\, knows someone who has\, or are part of the movement to end it? Are you a creative person interested in sharing stories through the creative arts? Do you have something you want to express to the community? \nParticipants can share whatever they feel comfortable with and are under no expectation to talk about their exploitation or trauma unless they would like to. \nWho can perform?\nAnyone with experience surrounding human trafficking – whether it be from lived experience or as an advocate. \nHow do I prepare?\nIf you would like support in crafting your piece\, we will hold 4 workshops at the end of 2022 to help you prepare.
